What causes dryness in the eye after laser eye surgery?
Dr. Victor Derhartunian explains the phenomenon of dry eyes after vision correction.
Dry eye is a very common phenomenon.
Almost every patient experiences dry eye immediately after laser eye surgery.
This is usually a temporary situation.
During this critical period after the operation, when the eye is dry, artificial tears should be used frequently to allow the surface of the eye to regenerate more easily.
The dryness usually lasts for days, weeks to months and is very much dependent on the patient’s own tissue, which is actually the tissue and material that the patient brings to the operation.
