In contrast to conventional laser procedures that ablate corneal tissue, the TransForm™ method takes a purely additive approach. We insert a wafer-thin, 100% natural implant into the cornea.
This implant, also known as lenticule is produced from human donor corneal tissue. Through a process of decellularization, all cellular components are removed, leaving only the pure, biocompatible collagen structure. A high-precision laser shapes this piece of tissue, which is only 20-30 micrometers thick, exactly to your requirements.
When inserted into the cornea, it gently changes its shape and increases the depth of focus (an Extended Depth of Focus-effect). The result: significantly better near and intermediate vision without impairing distance vision.

Ideally, you are between 45 and 65 years old and your reading glasses are a massive nuisance in your everyday life. A basic requirement is that your eyes are generally healthy and there are no serious pre-existing conditions. No, the treatment is absolutely painless thanks to local anesthesia using eye drops. The eye is completely anesthetized before the procedure, so you won’t feel anything during the entire procedure. The procedure itself only takes about 15 minutes per eye.
The Allotex Transform™ procedure is completely reversible, which is a significant advantage over other correction methods. If, contrary to expectations, you are not satisfied with the result or your visual needs change, the implant can be removed at any time without leaving any traces. This practically returns the condition of your eyes to what it was before the procedure.
The implant is designed to provide a permanent correction of your age-related farsightedness (presbyopia). It is a permanent solution that aims to give you long-term independence from reading glasses. An exchange or follow-up treatment is generally not necessary.
The donor tissue used comes exclusively from certified, ethically sound and strictly controlled tissue banks. This material is decellularized according to the highest medical standards, making it 100% biocompatible and very well accepted by your body. This minimizes the risk of rejection reactions.
The risks associated with this established procedure are very low. In the short term, temporary and easily treatable complaints such as dry eyes, slight foreign body sensations or increased sensitivity to glare may occur. Serious complications such as infections or permanent vision impairment are extremely rare and are minimized by strict hygiene regulations.
The initial healing begins within a few days after the procedure and you can quickly resume your usual activities. Full stabilization of vision and the final visual effect are achieved after about 1 to 3 months. Your ophthalmologist will closely monitor you throughout the healing phase.
If you develop cataracts at a later stage, this is not a problem for the treatment. The implant can be easily removed by the surgeon before the necessary cataract surgery without any restrictions. Your options for cataract surgery, for example with regard to lens selection, remain fully intact.

No. The eye is numbed with drops. The femtosecond laser creates a thin pocket in the cornea, the inlay is slid in; you feel pressure, no pain. About 15 minutes per eye, afterwards a foreign-body sensation for a few hours.
A wafer-thin lenticule of human donor corneal tissue, freed of all cells so that only pure collagen remains. It is not plastic, is not rejected and is invisible from outside.
Yes, that is the core of the method: nothing is removed, only added. The inlay can be removed or exchanged, for instance if presbyopia changes further over the years.
The procedure takes place in the cornea, a few tenths of a millimetre deep; retina and optic nerve are not touched. The real, very rare risk is an infection: sterile theatre, antibiotic drops, check-up the next day.
Allotex is usually only implanted in the reading eye; the other eye stays or is corrected for distance. The brain combines both images, adaptation takes a few weeks. Whether this kind of vision suits you, we test beforehand with contact lenses.
