How does lens selection work at EyeLaser?
It starts with the pre-examination for €200: cornea, eye length, pupil and tear film are measured. In the consultation we clarify at which distances you want to see sharply in daily life and which compromises are acceptable for you. Measurement and conversation together yield the recommendation for the lens type.
Which questions should I ask myself before the appointment?
At which distances do I need sharp vision: driving, screen, reading? Do I drive a lot at night? Would reading glasses be acceptable or a deal-breaker? What does my job require? The clearer the answers, the better the lens fits.
Can I try the lens beforehand?
Vision with a multifocal lens cannot be simulated one to one. Monovision, where one eye is set for distance and the other for near, can be tried out in advance with contact lenses. That shows whether your brain copes with this division.
What if I am not satisfied after surgery?
The brain usually needs a few weeks to get used to a new lens; halos and contrast differences decrease during this time. If a residual refractive error remains, such as slight astigmatism, it can be corrected precisely with a laser treatment.
Does price play a role in lens selection?
Not at EyeLaser Vienna. Every lens type costs €3,500 per eye. The decision is therefore made solely on which lens suits your eyes and your daily life.
