Short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism & more

In Austria, it is estimated that approximately 50 percent of people depend on wearing glasses or contact lenses. The reason for this is usually a congenital or acquired refractive error. The following vision defects and eye diseases can occur in isolation or together. The good news, however, is that we can treat all of these at EyeLaser Linz.

  • Myopia / short-sightedness
  • Hyperopia / farsightedness
  • Astigmatism / astigmatism
  • Presbyopia / presbyopia
  • Cataract
  • Keratoconus / corneal protrusion
Femto-LASIK 7D

Femto-LASIK 7D is a high-precision procedure for the correction of defective vision in which a femtosecond laser prepares a thin corneal flap and an excimer laser shapes the underlying corneal layers.

  • Myopia: -8 diopters / max. -10 diopters
  • Hyperopia: 4 diopters / max. 4 diopters
  • Astigmatism: 5 diopters / max. 6 diopters

More about Femto-LASIK 7D

Trans-PRK 7D

Trans-PRK 7D is a modern procedure for correcting defective vision in which the top layer of the cornea is removed without an incision using an excimer laser and the underlying corneal surface is then shaped.

  • Myopia: -6 diopters / max. -8 diopters
  • Hyperopia: < 3 diopters / max 3 diopters
  • Astigmatism: 5 diopters / max. 6 diopters

More about Trans-PRK 7D

SmartSight

SmartSight is an innovative method of correcting refractive errors that uses a femtosecond laser to precisely separate and remove tiny lens segments inside the cornea without the need for a corneal flap. This minimally invasive technique offers benefits such as faster healing, less dry eye and less impact on corneal stability compared to traditional procedures.

  • Myopia: -0.5 to -10 diopters
  • Hyperopia: correction not possible
  • Astigmatism: 5 diopters

Refractive lens exchange / cataract surgery

Multifocal lens replacement involves replacing the natural lens of the eye with an artificial lens that provides multiple focal points to correct both near and distance vision. This surgery, often performed as part of cataract or refractive lens replacement surgery, allows patients to significantly improve visual acuity across different distances and reduces dependence on glasses or contact lenses.

Lens replacement can be carried out either to correct visual defects, to cure or prevent cataracts or for presbyopia.

  • Monofocal lenses: Have one focal point, so glasses must continue to be worn after the procedure.
  • Multifocal lenses: Have multiple focal points so that glasses are no longer necessary after the procedure.
  • EDOF: Have multiple focal points and extended depth of field for a natural, clear viewing experience.

At the EyeLaser Eye Laser Center Linz, you can decide for yourself which type of artificial lens suits you, your needs and your life.

More about lens replacement

Lens implantation / ICL Phake lenses

Unlike lens exchange, lens implantation does not remove the natural lens. Rather, an artificial lens is inserted that compensates for the refractive error in conjunction with the natural lens. A tiny opening is cut through which the foldable lens is inserted. This type of procedure is particularly useful for people who:

  • are not suitable for laser eye surgery.
  • suffer from a very pronounced visual impairment
  • have a cornea that is too thin
  • have an irregularly shaped cornea
  • suffer from dry eyes
Correcting presbyopia in Linz

From the age of 45, presbyopia sets in for many people – the malleability of the lens decreases, which means that the accommodation of the eye no longer functions properly. We use the Presby-MAX procedure for laser eye surgery in Linz:

The cornea is sculpted in several zones using an excimer laser to improve both near and distance vision. This treatment makes it possible to optimize vision for different distances and reduce dependence on reading glasses.

Crosslinking against keratoconus & PMD

Crosslinking for keratoconus is a procedure in which the cornea is strengthened by combining riboflavin eye drops and UV light to crosslink the collagen fibres and thus stabilize the corneal structure. This treatment slows or stops the progression of keratoconus, improves corneal strength and reduces the risk of corneal curvature and visual deterioration.
