Maja shares her experience with Femto-LASIK at EyeLaser in Vienna:

What type of ametropia did you have before the operation?

I had Femto-LASIK because I was short-sighted. My dioptre was 2.5, 2.25 approximately. It bothered me when I was at school, I had to wear glasses. I’ll be honest, I didn’t like glasses. When I was outside, I couldn’t see anything and I always had to get so close that I could actually see anything. Even so in general, then always at home the glasses. If you went somewhere, you had to take your glasses with you. When I went to Poland, they would say my God, have I forgotten my glasses? It was just always stressful, no matter where you went, always having to think about it.

How was the day of the operation?

Actually quite normal for me. I wasn’t scared. I wasn’t nervous. I was actually very happy. When I arrived, everyone was very friendly. They checked everything first, looked at my eyes and everything and informed me, gave me an information sheet and then explained what I had to watch out for over the next few weeks. Although I was a bit nervous just before the procedure, but then the doctor came, shook my hand and showed me everything. Then I was fine again. It was then quite relaxed again, everything was normal.

I wasn’t actually scared at all during the operation. The doctor also explained what he was doing and always said, “Here it comes,” and during the laser procedure he also said, “It will only take a few seconds.” Immediately after the operation, I saw the clock again and everything that I hadn’t seen before the operation. Afterwards, we went to see how much I could see again and I could actually see 100% again after the operation. I came out of it really happy and told my mom and dad that too.

The day was actually quite okay. I had no pain, no discomfort, nothing at all really. I could also see. I always blinked a little in between to see what it was like to be able to see again.

Are you satisfied with the result of the operation?

Yes, after my experience with Femto-LASIK, I would always recommend it to anyone. I am over the moon and I would do it again and again. It’s the best feeling to really be able to see without having to wear glasses, to be able to see everything and not always have to close your eyes or anything like that. I would really recommend anyone to do it.
