When can I return to work after laser eye surgery?
Dr. Victor Derhartunian explains when you can work after laser eye surgery.
Immediately after the operation, you will have a foreign body sensation in your eye that can last up to four to six hours. During this time, it is best to keep your eyes closed. You should relax until the end of the day and ideally stay at home.
Most patients who have undergone Femto-LASIK surgery or ReLEx SMILE go back to work the next day. With a LASEK or PRK surface treatment, this process takes considerably longer, with pain lasting up to three days and good vision being achieved after up to three or four months. This means that the healing process is somewhat longer.
