Differences between LASIK/Femto-LASIK and PRK/LASEK in laser eye surgery

Dr. Victor Derhartunian explains the differences between LASIK/Femto-LASIK and PRK/LASEK.

The differences between the two surgical groups, if you can call them that, are in the visual rehabilitation, or more simply, how quickly you can see well after the treatment.

LASIK

After a Lasik/Femto-Lasik operation, you will see very well after just a few hours.

PRK

After LASEK/PRK surgery, you will initially have pain for two to three days and then your vision will fluctuate for up to three or four months. Of course, you may also experience very good vision earlier.

But the healing process for LASEK/PRK surgery is much longer. The final result when comparing the two groups is identical. It is simply a question of how quickly this final result is achieved.
