SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS NextGen: Vienna now operating with the latest generation
Our Vienna location is now working with the SCHWIND AMARIS 1050RS NextGen—the latest configuration level of the excimer laser we have been using for years. The resulting changes are less spectacular than an announcement might suggest, yet they are clearly noticeable in the daily surgical routine.
What the upgrade specifically delivers
- ATOS and AMARIS work closer together. The SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser and the AMARIS excimer laser now form a seamless platform. Treatment data moves between devices without manual re-entry—fewer transfer steps mean fewer opportunities for error.
- New software options for treatment planning. The ablation profile can be tailored more precisely to the individual eye. This affects the preparation, not the procedure itself—but preparation determines the result.
- A new monitor on the surgical microscope with enhanced visualization during treatment.
- A foundation for future features. SCHWIND delivers new capabilities primarily via software. With the NextGen status, we can implement them as soon as they are available, rather than waiting for the next hardware generation.
What does not change for you as a patient
Honesty is part of such an update: The procedures remain the same. Femto-LASIK, SmartSight, and Trans-PRK follow the same principles as before. Prices also remain unchanged, and eligibility criteria stay the same—if you were not a candidate yesterday, a software upgrade will not suddenly change that.
Those who have already been treated with us need to do nothing. Those with an upcoming appointment will be treated using the new standard without any further action required.
Why we are mentioning it anyway
Equipment is one of the few points where eye laser centers can be objectively compared—unlike testimonials or marketing promises, device generations can be looked up. We keep our equipment at the current state of the art and document which systems we use so that you can verify them. Both Vienna systems, ATOS and AMARIS, now correspond to the latest available generation.
If you would like to know which procedure is right for your eyes, we can clarify this during a free eligibility test—where we fully measure your eyes and tell you honestly what is possible and what is not.
