What is SmartSight – and why is it so popular?
SmartSight is a form of lenticule extraction performed with the SCHWIND laser. Minimally invasive, without flap creation (as with Femto LASIK, for example) and also without large incisions – just a tiny incision. Ideal for correcting short-sightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. What is SmartSight Nova?
In short: The latest generation of software and hardware from SCHWIND. The aim: even more precise lenticule extraction and even better visual results. And we promise to achieve this goal.
- Precise focus point: Nova recognizes exactly where in the eye the laser energy needs to be applied – adapted to individual vision.
- Dynamic optimization: During the procedure, eye movements, pressure changes and the shape of the cornea are taken into account live.
- In cooperation with CenTrax®, Nova “understands” when the center shifts and then corrects automatically.

What is CenTrax®?

What exactly was the problem and how is it solved?
Whereas in the past the center of the pupil was simply taken as the center, today we are more precise. Taking the center of the pupil is like automatically taking the frame as the center of a picture without paying attention to the actual subject. This is because the visual center is often slightly off the center of the pupil.
CenTrax® is – literally – a machine for recognizing the true visual center. And then the lasing is adjusted precisely to this point. It’s like having a camera that automatically tracks the subject – even if it shakes or shifts slightly.
