Laser eye surgery costs?
the best instead of the cheapest!
- You get what you pay for.We take care to get everything right every step of the way so that you can say: "I made a smart choice and opted for the best"
Every eye treatment must begin with a suitability test and a comprehensive preliminary ophthalmological examination
Includes all fast screening examinations (automatic diopter measurement, 3D corneal image) + a personal consultation and discussion of the methods in question
Ideal for prospective patients who want to see an eye surgeon and receive a complete treatment plan.
Suppose we find out that you are not suitable for laser eye surgery or lens implantation or that you do not want treatment.
In this case, we will only charge you for the ophthalmological examination and any contact lens simulation (as with monovision).
In principle, the SmartSight or Relex Smile method is only not recommended if the treating dentist does not have the technology available or is not familiar with the innovative small incision technique.
– Prices per eye *the monthly amounts are based on the fees per eye with financing over 5 years at an interest rate of 6.6% APR
Correction of high visual defects, presbyopia with advanced implants (prices/eye)

The diagnostic equipment alone costs around 150-300 thousand euros.
Then the laser (the femtosecond laser) for the first step of the procedure costs around 500.
Thousand, with user fees per use per eye ranging from €350-450.
Then there’s the typical cost range for the excimer laser (which shapes the eye), which is €150,000 at the low end and close to €450,000 at the high end (we’re certainly at the high end).
Then there’s the cost of training an eye surgeon, which usually takes around 18 years – most of it after graduation.
Then there are the costs of the premises, support staff, insurance and other ancillary costs associated with running a world-class clinic in a major city center.
We don’t want to be the cheapest.

The cost of laser eye surgery if you have health insurance
Statutory health insurance companies such as the GKK or SVA do not generally cover the costs of laser eye surgery or lens implants.
These insurances only cover medically necessary treatments.
As they are only obliged to reimburse the costs of medically necessary services.
Excluded:
We can check these criteria during the ophthalmologic examination and prepare a clinical report.
If the procedure is not or only partially covered by your health insurance, the treatment costs can usually be deducted as an extraordinary expense in your income tax return.
Please note that EyeLaser is a private practice (with private doctors) and therefore does not offer treatments covered by health insurance.
However, many private health insurance companies cover the treatment costs in part or in full.
Please enquire about the insurance conditions with your health insurance company before the procedure.
Yes.
The costs of laser eye surgery or lens implants are the same as the costs of glasses or contact lenses and are deductible as medical expenses.
The current income tax guidelines state: “In the case of an illness, visual aids, including laser treatment, are necessary to improve vision and are tax-deductible.”
Patients who undergo such an operation have a visual defect and therefore a medical condition.
Therefore, these costs are generally recognized as extraordinary expenses even without a medical certificate proving the medical necessity of the procedure.
Deducting laser eye surgery from tax This is how it works: Enter the cost of the eye surgery in the “Medical expenses” column of your annual tax assessment.
You can enter the total costs.
But there is a deductible of 6 to 12 % of your annual income, depending on how high it is.
This percentage is reduced by approximately 1% in certain circumstances (sole earner, single parent, etc.).
The Ministry of Finance calculates your deductible.
The remaining treatment costs affect your tax deductibility. Exception: If the procedure was specialist-related and you have a certificate to prove this, you can deduct the full amount.
Find out more about extraordinary costs (§ 33 EStG) from the Ministry of Finance.
If in doubt, please find out about the tax deductibility of your operating costs.
