Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Is the SmartSight treatment painful?

No. The treatment is painless thanks to special anesthetic drops that completely numb the eye. You will only feel a slight pressure during the procedure. Immediately after the treatment, you may feel a slight foreign body sensation, but this will disappear within a few hours.

Why is the risk of infection so low with SmartSight?

The tiny opening created by the laser, which is only 2 mm wide, means that there is hardly any entry point for germs. In contrast to methods with large incisions, the risk of infection is significantly lower. This minimally invasive approach contributes significantly to the high level of safety of the procedure.

How long does the procedure take?

The actual laser time in which the correction takes place is less than 30 seconds per eye. The entire stay in the treatment room is very short at around 15 minutes, as the preparation and follow-up checks are also carried out quickly. The treatment is therefore usually completed after a quarter of an hour.

When can I go back to work and do sport?

Office work can usually be resumed 1 to 2 days after treatment. You should wait a few weeks before doing strenuous sports, especially swimming, sauna or contact sports, to ensure optimal healing. However, gentle training is often possible earlier.

What makes SmartSight better than SMILE?

SmartSight uses the latest generation SCHWIND ATOS® laser, which is renowned for its speed and precision. It has a state-of-the-art eye-tracking system with cyclotorsion compensation, which compensates for the rotation of the eye during laser treatment. This is particularly advantageous when correcting astigmatism.

Am I suitable for SmartSight?

Suitability for SmartSight treatment is carefully assessed in a two-stage process. First, we clarify all basic questions in a free initial consultation. This is followed by a comprehensive main medical examination, during which all relevant parameters are measured in detail to determine your suitability.

Will the result last a lifetime?

Yes, defective vision corrected with SmartSight, such as short-sightedness or long-sightedness, is permanent and does not usually return. Only natural presbyopia, which occurs from around the age of 45, is a separate process that occurs independently of laser treatment.

Can SmartSight also be used for thin corneas?

Yes, because the SmartSight method does not involve cutting a large flap, the stability of the cornea is better preserved than with other procedures such as LASIK. This makes SmartSight an often more suitable option for patients with thinner corneas. The procedure is therefore particularly gentle on the tissue.

Is financing possible?

Yes, we know that laser eye treatment is a major investment and therefore offer flexible financing options. We will work with you to develop a suitable installment model that is tailored to your individual needs and financial situation.
