Can the LASIK flap move?
Does the flap grow back firmly after Femto-LASIK?
Can the LASIK flap shift? Dr. Victor Derhartunian explains whether the flap will reattach.
The cut lamella is folded back again immediately after the actual laser treatment. It is rinsed out and you can imagine that a suction effect is created there.
Imagine that you have two panes of glass. You put a drop of water between them and these two panes are also inseparable. This is exactly how this lamella behaves on the cornea.
Of course, I can move this lamella immediately after the operation using small instruments, but this becomes impossible or difficult over time. This is particularly due to wound healing at the edge of the cornea, and over time the inner layers of the cornea grow together. This can take up to several years.
